DIY - HOW TO DO a BASIC SKIRT PATTERN for girls.

DIY - HOW TO DO a BASIC SKIRT PATTERN for girls.

Hi, have a happy day!!!!

Today we´ll do a girl´s basic skirt pattern…

We use ruler, colour markers, pencil, scissors, measure tape, paper....

We use:
·        Plane fabric or knit fabric (with elastano, lycra).

·         Italian measurements in cms.

·         Side seam (in the waistband too) with plane fabric.

Measurements needed:

WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE: is the measurement we take exactly, not easy not tight, around the waist.

HIP CIRCUMFERENCE: is the measurement we take exactly, not easy not tight, around the HIP.

LONG DESIRED/SKIRT LENGHT: is the measurement we take to where we want the skirt plus the hem.

HEMS: it’s 1 cm for the waistband and 4 cm for the skirt hem.

WAISTBAND:  is the same waist circumference measurement plus 4 cm to cross and 8 cm in high that we fold in half, so we have 4 cm in high. We use 1 cm for the seam.

SIDE SEAM: we add 1 to 2 cms. In the waistband too.

FRONT PATERN

We start doing a rectangle with ¼ hip circumference in the horizontals and the long skirt we want in the verticals.
Example: hip circumference:100cm, divided 4 is 25cm, we put these 25cm in upper and down horizontals.
The long skirt wanted plus 4cm for hem and 1 cm for waist go in the verticals.

In the upper horizontal line, from left to right, we mark the waist circumference plus 2cm  this is for the tweezers (red line).

From the upper horizontal line and in the vertical left line we mark down 1 cm and join with the upper horizontal line at right (red line)

We mark down the hip line (horizontal blue line) and join it with the diagonal blue line that joins with the waistline (red line) this is the hip area.

In the waist line we look for the middle, we mark a dot. We mark 1 cm (child) in each side from the dot. In the dot we mark down 4 cm and join with the side marks making the tweezers (red colour).

BACK PATTERN

We start doing a rectangle with ¼ hip circumference in the horizontals and the long skirt we want in the verticals.
Example: hip circumference:100cm, divided 4 is 25cm, we put these 25cm in upper and down horizontals.
The long skirt wanted plus 4cm for hem and 1 cm for waist go in the verticals.

Well, we finish the basic skirt pattern for girl...

We´ll modifie this basic pattern in others models...like the evasee pattern...

Now, we need to practice…

DIY- how to do a Skirt evasée pattern for girls

DIY- HOW TO DO a Skirt evasée pattern for girls

Hi, have a happy/nice day!!!!
Today we´re going to do a skirt evasée pattern.

SKIRT EVASEE PATTERN  (with plane fabric)

We use ruler, colour markers, pencil, scissors, measure tape, paper....

WE USE:
EASY SEW IN THE SIDE SEAMS.
ITALIAN MEASUREMENTS IN CMS.
PLANE FABRIC.

NOTE:

THE LEFT VERTICAL LINE  INDICATES THE LINE WHERE WE FOLD THE FABRIC SO WE PUT THIS PATTERN LINE OVER THE FABRIC FOLD.

MEASURES NEEDED

WAIST: is the measure we use around the waist no tight no loose.

HIP: is the measure we use around the hip no tight no loose.

HIPLINE: is the measure we take from the waist to hip.

SKIRT LENGHT: is the measure we wanted plus the hems.

HEMS: 2cm to sew the waistband and 4 cm for the hem in the bottom of the skirt.

WAISTBAND is the same waist circumference measurement plus 4 cm to cross and 8 cm in high that we fold in half, so we have 4 cm in high. We use2 cm for the seam.

SIDE SEAM: is the measurement we add to sew the fabric. We use only with plane fabric. We use 2cm for waistband, 2 cm for side seam and to sew the zipper wherever you want to use it.

FRONT PATERN

We start doing a rectangle with ¼ hip circumference in the horizontals and the long skirt we want in the verticals.

Till here is the basic skirt pattern.

We draw down a vertical line from the dot (brown line)
We cut by this line to the tweezers

We shut the tweezers and see how the line opens (brown line) making the evasée skirt pattern.

DIY Child´s Circular skirt with plane fabric.

DIY-HOW TO DO Child´s Circular skirt with plane fabric.

 Hi, have a happy day!!!!

Today we´re doing a child´s circular skirt pattern…

We use ruler, colour markers, pencil, scissors, measure tape, paper....

We use plane fabric.

We use a “light”(not heavy) fabric so it falls fine.

We use Italian measurements in cms.

We use the same pattern that we use with stretch fabric pattern.

We use side seam (in the waistband too).

We don´t use zipper.

Measurements needed with plane fabric:

WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE: is the measurement we take exactly, not easy not tight, around the waist.
HIP CIRCUMFERENCE: is the measurement we take exactly, not easy not tight, around the HIP.
LONG DESIRED/SKIRT LENGHT: is the measurement we take to where we want the skirt plus the hem.
HEMS: it´s 1 cm for the waistband and 4 cm for the skirt hem.

WAISTBAND: we use 1 cm for the seam in each border. This skirt needs a plane-band of 1 or 2 cm wide and the waistband long is the same waist circumference measurement plus 4 cm to cross and 8 cm in high that we fold in half, so we have 4 cm in high.
The band  may be fliselina (the lightest one), we use this so the waistband doesn´t stretchs with the use.

SIDE SEAM: we add 1 to 2 cms. In the waistband too.

We draw an horizontal line with 1/6 waist circumference PLUS the skirt long we want PLUS hem.

We draw a vertical line with 1/6 waist circumference PLUS the skirt long we want PLUS hem.

From the superior left corner of the square, we draw in both lines, horizontal and vertical, 1/6 waist circumference and join with a soft curve which is the waist (see the draw)

From these marks (the waist) we draw the long skirt wanted plus hem, in the horizontal and vertical lines and we draw several marks to make the curve. (see draw)

Well, we finished the round/circular skirt with plane fabric.

Now, we need to practice….

DIY- HOW TO DO a girl´s Circular skirt

Hi, have a happy day!!!!

Today we´re doing a child´s circular skirt…

We may use plane fabric or stretch/elastic fabric.

We don´t use seam discount or easy seam if we use stretch/elastic fabric.

If we use plane fabric we use a “light”(not heavy) fabric so it falls fine.

We use Italian measurements in cms.

Measurements needed with stretch fabric:

WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE: is the measurement we take exactly, not easy not tight, around the waist.

HIP CIRCUMFERENCE: is the measurement we take exactly, not easy not tight, around the HIP.

LONG/LENGTH DESIRED: is the measurement we take from waistline to where we want the skirt plus the hem.

We draw a vertical line with 1/6 waist circumference PLUS the skirt long we want PLUS hem.

From the superior left corner of the square, we draw in both lines, horizontal and vertical, 1/6 waist circumference and join with a soft curve which is the waist (see the draw)

From these marks (the waist) we draw the long skirt wanted plus hem, in the horizontal and vertical lines and we draw several times to make the curve. (see draw)

Well, we finished the round/circular skirt with stretch fabric. With plane fabric we add 2 cm in waistband for easy seam, only.
Now you may practice….

DIY CULOTTE SLIP MAN -even big sizes

DIY CULOTTE SLIP MAN even big sizes

Hi, have a happy day!!!!

I try to explain in English.
As you see it’s not my own language.
I hope to do it fine.

We modify the classic slip into the classic and simply culotte for man...

We use ruler, colour markers, pencil, scissors, measure tape, paper….and the classic slip pattern…..

We use the BASIC SLIP PATTERN to modify…..

We use:

·        stretch fabric (with spandex).

·        the paper fold in two.

·        the classic slip pattern.

·        Italian measurements, in cms.

WE DON’T USE EASE SEWING/SEAM.

NOTE:

THE LEFT VERTICAL LINE INDICATES THE LINE WHERE WE FOLD THE FABRIC SO WE PUT THIS PATTERN LINE OVER THE FABRIC FOLD.

We modify in the same way both patterns, the front slip pattern and the back slip pattern  …..

Let’s start…..

 FRONT CULOTTE PATTERN

We modify the side from the front slip pattern…
We divide the side line in 3  ….
In the 1st mark, we draw a line (green colour) joining both vertical lines....we get the new front waist line....

BACK CULOTTE PATTERN

We modify the back slip pattern…

We divide the side line in 3  ….

In the 1st mark, we draw a line (blue colour) joining both vertical lines....
we get the new back waist line and the back culotte pattern (blue color)....

As you see it’s too easy to do a  classic culotte slip….

As always we need to practice…..

DIY CLASIC SLIP COLALESS PATTERN-even big sizes

Hi, have a happy day!!!!

I try to explain in English.
As you see it’s not my own language.
I hope to do it fine.

We modify the classic slip into the classic and simply cola-less slip

We use ruler, colour markers, pencil, scissors, measure tape, paper….and the classic slip pattern…..

We use the BASIC SLIP PATTERN to modify…..

We use:

·        stretch fabric (with spandex).

·        the paper fold in two.

·        the basic slip pattern.

·        Italian measurements, in cms.

WE DON’T USE EASE SEWING/SEAM.

NOTE:

THE LEFT VERTICAL LINE INDICATES THE LINE WHERE WE FOLD THE FABRIC SO WE PUT THIS PATTERN LINE OVER THE FABRIC FOLD.

We modify the front slip pattern and the back slip pattern  …..

Let’s start…..

We modify the front slip pattern…
We divide the side line in 3  ….
In the 1st mark, we draw a line (green colour) joining both vertical lines....

BACK SLIP PATTERN

Are the same steps to do in the lady and in the man pattern....

From the left vertical line we mark in 1cm, up and down and we join these marks (red line)….

From the upper horizontal line (the waist line) we mark down 2, 3 or 4 cm , the same measurement we use in the front pattern….

We draw a tiny curve (grey colour) joining the vertical line (red colour) to the waist-line, the upper horizontal line (blue colour)….

here we have the back pattern, all in red colour....

As you see it’s too easy to do a classic cola-less slip ….

As always we need to practice…..
